  1. Neal,

I want to congratulate you on your progress this far and will be following you until you reach New Orleans. I can tell you from experience that there really is no place like the Mississippi River.

Like you, I learned all about the Mississippi in a rather unconventional way. In 1997, I swam it. That’s right, I swam from Minneapolis to Baton Rouge in the Mississippi. I averaged about 12 miles a day, so the swim took just over four months.

Again, I wish you all the best. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help you and your journey.

      Hi, Nick,

I’ve heard your name mentioned several times on the river by people who have been touched by your trek. Really great to hear from you as well as to check out more about your journey. Quite a testament for both the struggle against MS and your love for your dad.

      All best, Neal
